BE THE MATCH......
Every year 10,000 men, women and children desperately search the National Marrow Donor Program’s “Be The Match Registry” of volunteer donors in hopes of finding a marrow match. Cheralyn Froio is an example of one of those patients.
Cheralyn is an active and devoted mother of three boys, one of whom is Autistic. Cheralyn’s adult life has been devoted to her children and her family. She has always been the first one to “step up” and help a friend in need. Now she is in need of help. On April 27, 2012 Cheralyn was diagnosed with Leukemia and is in need of a marrow transplant. Unfortunately her four siblings were tested but were not her match. Cheralyn is currently undergoing chemotherapy treatments at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center to stem the progress of her illness and begin the road to recovery. Her family feels very strongly about giving back to the community. Her husband, Jonathan Froio, is a Braintree Firefighter and Safety Specialist at Boston Children’s Hospital. Cheralyn and Jon are also active in coaching youth sports. Cheralyn’s positive attitude and beautiful smile is leading the way for her family and friends as she fights this illness and completes her journey to recovery.
